“My greatest point is my persistence. I never give up in a match. However down I am, I fight until the last ball. My list of matches shows that I have turned a great many so-called irretrievable defeats into victories.” – Bjorn Borg
So much has changed in all of our lives since this time last year.
For me, I will never forget celebrating my son’s 5th birthday in 2020, with family and friends. We were gathered at our house, singing and cutting the birthday cake.
We were in person (not through Zoom) and were living on the edge maskless!
“This is the best birthday ever!” my son said.
Little did we all know that those six words would be followed by an email that made my heart sink…
“School will be closed for two weeks due to COVID.”
I remember screaming (in my head)…
“Two weeks?! How will I be able to work? I have a book deadline!”
And here we are – almost a year later and my son hasn’t been in a classroom since his 5th birthday.
So, no matter what your situation is… the past year has been full of change.
Like you, I’ve been wearing so many hats during this pandemic and juggling many, many, many balls.
Since I’m not a professional juggler, I have definitely dropped my fair share – like emailing and podcasting consistently.
It’s not that I didn’t want to do those things.
But between being a wife, mom, teacher, writer – you name it – I couldn’t do everything.
And, despite the fact that I dropped the ball in some areas of my business, I was able to write my first book!
You can grab pre-order your copy of Be Bold: A Guide to Unbreakable Confidence before the official launch in May with some epic pre-order bonuses too (more on that later so keep an eye out!)
Even though I accomplished a huge goal (my biggest yet!), that inner critic of mine couldn’t help but to “remind” me of everything I didn’t do last year.
That’s why I continue to remind myself that life is a marathon – not a sprint.
And, as much as we want to be everything to everyone and check off everything from our must-do lists… we’re all humans.
We’ll drop all kinds of balls… we’ll feel embarrassed popping up when we’ve procrastinated… we’ll even feel a bit overwhelmed not knowing how to restart things again.
But, the key to success is not to quit but, instead, to continue to get back up when you fall off.
So, here I am, picking back up with e-mail…
…sending this to you so that WE can pick up where we left off.
Maybe you’ve dropped the ball on some of your goals.
Maybe you intended to maintain your workout routine, repair some relationships, seek more purpose, or change jobs.
Maybe you’ve been hard on yourself for what you haven’t done.
Maybe you’ve been procrastinating getting started again.
I’m here to tell you – you are not alone.
And in the spirit of going farther together… I invite you to join me in picking up a ball that you dropped.
Today is a new opportunity to start again.
Now, hit reply and let me know…
What ball did you drop that you’re ready to pick back up?
I’m cheering for you (always)!
